The Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) engineer at Lockheed Martin will have the opportunity to design, simulate and verify technologies such as missile autopilot, guidance algorithms, inertial target tracking, and Navigation algorithms using Kalman Filters for optimal estimation techniques. They will also have the opportunity to design, simulate and verify precision servo control and pointing algorithms for gimbaled seekers and other sensors as well as various actuators and mechanisms. Modelling and simulation of these systems is performed primarily in Matlab and C . What does a successful GNC employee at Lockheed Martin look like? Check out the info below to see if you have what it takes.

Argonne scientists use artificial intelligence in new way to strengthen power grid resiliency - Tech Check News

#artificialintelligence

With a new neural network, lab scientists helped create new formulas that could bridge a power system's static and dynamic features -- a difficult feat. America's power grid system is not only large but dynamic, which makes it especially challenging to manage. Human operators know how to maintain systems when conditions are static.

This AI software can assess 3D printing quality in real time – Tech Check News

Image Source: PIXABAY This AI software can assess 3D printing quality in real time. A team of US researchers has developed artificial intelligence (AI) software for 3D printers that assesses the quality of parts in real time, without the need for expensive characterisation equipment. The software, named Peregrine, supports the advanced manufacturing "digital thread" being developed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) that collects and analyses data through every step of the manufacturing process, from design to feedstock selection to the print build to material testing.

DARPA Trains AI To Understand Humans – In Minecraft – Tech Check News

#artificialintelligence

Before artificial intelligence wields weapons in real-world battle, the Pentagon needs to test its AIs in virtual environments. That's why DARPA, the Pentagon's blue-sky projects agency, is developing an AI that can communicate with humans in games, as well as manage and understand the peculiarities of a human team in action. See, central to the US military's enthusiastic embrace of artificial intelligence is the idea that AI and robotics can never replace human troops, but they can work with them in a human-machine team that is much […]

Artificial Intelligence speeds up screening for COVID-19 in ERs – Tech Check News

#artificialintelligence

Pixabay – Martin Büdenbender Researchers from the Eindhoven University of Technology and the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven have developed a new algorithm for rapid screening of COVID-19. The software is intended for use in Emergency Rooms, to quickly exclude the presence of corona in incoming patients. As a result, doctors need to conduct fewer standard coronavirus tests, increasing efficiency. The quick scan for COVID-19 was developed within three months and is already in use by doctors in the Emergency Room (ER) of the Catharina Hospital.
